Veteran Actor Mr. Ibu Sadly Departs
John Okafor, better known by his stage name Mr. Ibu, was a renowned actor who died after a protracted illness and limb amputation.
On Saturday, March 2, Mr. Ibu passed away in a Lagos state hospital, leaving his loved ones and colleagues in great pain.

Instagram blogger Linda Ikeji was informed by family sources that the actor was placed on life support after undergoing a second surgery to treat his illness.
After the operation, his blood pressure was reported to have been over 200, and measures were being taken to get it under control until his tragic death later that night.
It’s important to remember that Mr. Ibu has been dealing for years with various health problems, including recurrent blood clots in his leg (caused by damaged blood vessels).
He made a public plea for financial support to deal with his condition in October 2023. Even though his physicians had planned to send him abroad for additional care, they decided he was not well enough to travel, so the plan was canceled. In November 2023, his leg was removed as part of his treatment.
The actor, who was 62 years old when he passed away, is survived by his wife and kids. Mr. Ibu was well known for his superbly funny acting in movies.
