Gunmen Fatally Shoot Man, Abduct Wife and Son Along Enugu Road, Police Blame Lack Of Fuel For Not Going After Killers
In Enugu State, some gunmen who may be herders killed a guy and kidnapped his wife and child.
According to information acquired by SaharaReporters, the tragedy happened along Afa/Egede Road in spite of military checkpoints and the Nigerian Army’s current Operation Udoka in the Southeast.
In February, SaharaReporters revealed how family members had been abducted by kidnappers who were taking their late brother’s body from Lagos to Nsukka in Enugu State.
The state’s Afa-Egede Road in the Udi local government area has grown to be hated by drivers and commuters due to kidnappers making travel there unpleasant.
SaharaReporters learned that Saturday afternoon was when the most recent incident occurred.
A middle-aged man appears to have been shot and killed in a video of the incident that SaharaReporters saw on Monday. He is seen in front of a Toyota Corolla.
There were bullets all over the car, Lagos registration number: LSD 593 JH.
In the video, a voice recounting the incidents said:
“As you have seen, this man was shot dead along the road going from Afa to Egede in Udi local government area of Enugu State. I am warning that people should be vigilant.
“These are the clothes of the wife. The kidnappers marched the survivors to the bush. They riddled their vehicle with bullets. We are calling on the government to come to our aid because there’s nothing we can do.
“As you have seen, we have good government. Nigerian soldiers are busy hunting members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), but they cannot protect the people of Enugu, especially the poor people using Egede – Afa Road.”
The incident was verified by Mrs. Chinyere, a resident of Egede local government area, who said that the man’s wife and son had been abducted by kidnappers.
She stated that, despite the fact that the situation had been reported to the Ezinze Police Division, neither the troops nor the police were taking any action to save the family.
In her words,
In the meantime , the incident has been confirmed by the Enugu State Police Command.
After confirming the event, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, announced that they had begun a manhunt for the attackers.
“Manhunt of the armed men and rescue of the two reportedly abducted victims are ongoing. Further development will be communicated, please,” he said.
