First, I thank God that we have gone this far, and this is the 10th edition. We have reeled out the programmes for this unique celebration.

“We are also glad with the richness of the nominees, which was released by our partners in charge of the collation. We believe that the 10th edition will be a special one.

“All the plans for the 10th anniversary cannot be reeled out at once, so as the time comes, we will be unfolding the events; for now, we want to start with a football summit.”

He continued, “At the summit, we want to discuss the way forward for Nigeria’s football because we believe that a lot can be injected. We have done our best this far, but we can do a whole lot more.

Phillips reiterated that one of the most reputable awards in Nigeria and around Africa is the Nigeria Pitch Award, due to its impeccable history.

“If anything is special about celebrating the 10th anniversary, it is because the process that we have put in place is free and fair.

“Those that have gotten the awards are deserving and were given them on merit. We have done our best to see that the winners are adjudged to be the best and that the platform remains incontrovertible.

“We believe that the 10th edition will attract more Nigerians. It is important that we celebrate our heroes, and it is also important that we have a platform that can reward them for their sacrifice.

Inter Milan VP Zanetti Targets Arsenal Prospect

Joshua Zirkzee, the standout striker for Bologna, is a target for Inter Milan Vice-President Javier Zanetti’s team, and Arsenal may face competition from the Serie A winners for his services during the summer transfer window.

With 11 goals and four assists this season, Zirkzee has been one of Bologna’s best players, aiding his team’s quest for Champions League qualifying.

Bologna is rumored to be asking a hefty €60 million [£51.3 million] for the young forward, who signed a contract with Bayern Munich in August 2022 for €8.5 million [£7.1 million].

The 22-year-old was praised by Zanetti as “a young, talented, intelligent, physically very strong player” and believes that he could be a valuable addition to a team looking to achieve great things.

When asked about a potential move for Zirkzee, Zanetti told Radio TV Serie A: ‘”Zirkzee is a great champion.

“We are talking about a young, talented, intelligent, physically very strong player.

“Someone like that would be useful to any great team aiming for important goals.

“Let’s see… if the opportunity arises we can think about it.

“With Zirkzee, Lautaro [Martinez] and [Marcus] Thuram we would have a young and strong attack. They would give us peace of mind.”

EPL: Ten Hag Reveals He Requested Harry Kane But Man Utd Signed Hojlund Instead

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has disclosed that he had hoped to sign Harry Kane for the team last summer, but Rasmus Hojlund was signed instead.

Hojlund left Atalanta for United in a £72 million transaction, while Kane paid £100 million to move from Tottenham to Bayern Munich.

Hojlund has made 26 league appearances in his first season at Old Trafford, scoring eight goals, while Kane has scored 35 goals in 31 Bundesliga outings for Bayern.

“We have had some choices made with talents like Rasmus Hojlund.

“I can see a striker who already proved it, who we want to sign and we couldn’t get him. And then we went to Rasmus because he’s a talent,” Ten Hag said during an interview with Gary Neville for Sky Sports.

When questioned directly if he was referring to Kane, Ten Hag said, “Yes, and you know Harry Kane will get you 30 goals.”

“I think Rasmus will get there, but he needs time. It’s not fair to assess him the same as Harry Kane. I would never compare two players because they are very different.”
