Abduction of Chief Imam Shocks Kogi Community

The Chief Imam of Iyara, Sheikh Quasim Musa, was abducted by gunmen who may have been kidnappers, according to the Nigeria Police Force’s Kogi State Command.

According to information obtained, Musa was abducted on Monday night outside his home in Ilukpa, the Iyara headquarters of the Ijumu Local Government Area. The gunmen entered the area, opened fire, and then took their victim to an unidentified location.

According to a family source who spoke to the Daily Post, they have not heard back from the abductors.

“Dear compatriot sons and daughters of Iyara land, it is sad to announce to you all that our community had its own share of the current insecurity bedevilling the nation on Monday 25th, March 2024.

“Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen stormed the House of the Chief Imam of Iyara land, Sheikh Quasim Musa, and kidnapped him after shooting sporadically.

“The religious leader was abducted at about 2200hrs after he came back from mosque and slept outside his house in Ilukpa, Iyara headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

“This dastardly act is cowardice and unfortunate, happening to a Religious Leader in this Holy month of Ramadan. We use this medium to call on relevant authorities to ensure that he is released.

“You’re hereby requested to commence fervent prayers as for efforts being made to rescue him from kidnappers’ den to yield positive results in no distant time. Once again, you are all requested to pray for his safe return,” the family source was quoted as saying.

“The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State has deployed tactical team, PMF, quick response unit, Divisional Police, alongside local vigilantes and other security agencies to ensure that the man is rescued unhurt,” stated SP William Ovye Aya, the public relations officer for the Kogi State Police, in a Tuesday statement confirming the incident.

A Sharia Court in Ningi, the capital of the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has condemned a middle-aged man named Abdullahi Sani from Unguwar Makara Huta to death by stoning on the grounds of his alleged homosexuality.

On May 10, 2024, at a court session, Sharia Judge Abdullahi Aliyu Doya delivered the verdict, finding Sani guilty of the offense as accused.

The Sharia Judge declared that after hearing several arguments, the court closed the case on Thursday, September 5, 2024, for judgment and sentencing. The case was opened on February 5, 2024.

He clarified that Abdullahi Sani was found guilty and sentenced to death by stoning in line with sections 131, 132, and 133 of the Bauchi State Administration of Criminal Justice, 2001, based on witness testimony and the defendant’s admission of guilt.

Remember that a Sharia court rendered a verdict on July 1, 2022, sentencing three individuals to death by stoning for offenses similar to this one.

20 Killed and 2 Abducted As Bandits Attack Zamfara Community

Students Kidnapped as Bandits Raids Kogi University

More than twenty people have been killed in Bilbis, a community in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area, by armed bandits operating in the Northwest zone.

According to information obtained, over seven community members were taken to Tsafe General Hospital after suffering gunshot wounds of varying degrees.

One Ismaiala Bilbis claims that the gunmen broke into the village on numerous motorcycles carrying advanced weaponry and were free to roam for more than three hours.

“The terrorists, after killing over 20 people, abducted two people,” he said.

He added that although security services received requests for assistance, the terrorists had already departed when the military and other security personnel arrived.

Additionally, some of the residents disclosed that 14 of the deceased were buried early on Friday morning.

Recall that in recent times, villages in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area have been subjected to ceaseless attacks by unrepentant terrorists who have persisted in frightening the populace.

Two Social Media Users Summoned For Leaking Socialite’s Nude Photo

Nnamdi Kanu's Appeal Denied: Court Rules in Favor of Police and DSS on Unlawful Arrest and Detention Case

Two social media users have been summoned by the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6, for the “criminal defamation” of socialite Dorcas Adeyinka.

Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna has directed the two defendants, Tolulope Adeoye, also known as Abike Jagaban, and Tolulope Odegbami, also known as Olowosibi, to appear in person before the court on June 4, 2024, to respond to the charges brought against them by the complainant. This directive is contained in the court summons dated May 9, 2024, which our correspondent was able to view.

The complainant accused the defendants of posting her naked photo on social media and making fun of her in a criminal complaint filed by the complainants’ attorneys, led by Pelumi Olajengbesi of the Abuja-based law company, Law Corridor.

On the 5th of March 2022, Abike Jagaban shared the complainant’s nude pictures on Youtube, directing her followers to different online platfoms where the complainant’s pictures were/are shared and ridiculed the complainant in the process.

“The video is captioned: ‘Abike Jagaban on Dorcas Adeyinka, aka TMS Blog’.

Because of these activities, the complaint has been subjected to disdain, hostility, and detestation, as some individuals have been observed mocking the complainant in the post’s comment section.

In a different video titled “How Abike Jagaban Bully Dorcas Adeyinka,” Abike Jagaban is shown bullying the complainant as well.

Additionally, the defendants have posted articles on social media claiming that the complainant is to blame for the passing of Folusho Asimiyu, popularly known as “Iya Ibeji,” a person the complainant had previously provided financial support for through her non-governmental organization.

A portion of the lawsuit stated, “These accusations have been made without any proof or connection linking the complainant to Folunsho Asimiyu’s demise.”

According to the complainant, the defendants’ purported acts violated Section 391 of the Penal Code and amounted to criminal defamation.

Magistrate Iyanna directed the complainant in Suit No. CR/93/2024 with Motion No. MN/140/2024 to use their social media handles or pages, @Tolulope Omolara Ghaba (Favebook) and @Princess Tolulope Ajike Olowosibi (Facebook), to serve the defendants with the criminal summons and all other subsequent processes of the court.

He ruled that the two defendants must appear in court on June 4, 2024, the day he had postponed the case.
